You can create AI images using both KoalaImages and KoalaWriter!

In KoalaWriter you can simply choose the "Auto" or "Images" option for the "AI Images & YouTube Videos" setting:

You can then configure the image model, style, size, and maximum number of images. Please see below for more information on the image styles, image sizes, and to see samples.

In the future, we will support custom fine-tuned image models so that you can get reliable, custom image styles for all your images! If this is something you are interested in, please email hello@koala.sh and let us know your interest.

Premium Image Model

If you have the Professional subscription or Gold Credit Pack and higher, you can use our premium photo model.

Our Premium image model is greatly improved over our standard model especially for images featuring text, people, and animals.

Use it by selecting the Premium Image Model in KoalaWriter and KoalaImages.

Note: it is free to use in KoalaWriter but uses 5x credits in KoalaImages.

AI Images in KoalaWriter FAQs

Not yet. But this is on the roadmap.

Does using images in KoalaWriter use extra words?

No, there is no extra cost and there are no additional words used.

Yes, we will store and host all images indefinitely. The hosting is designed for speed so you can use our image URLs to reliably serve the images in a very performant way.

Can I use the images commercially?

Yes, our Terms of Service grants you all rights, titles, and interests to the AI images and text that KoalaWriter produces.

Why Don't We Use Midjourney?

Midjourney doesn't provide an official API for AI images and prohibits automation in its Terms of Service. Using automation violates their terms, making any images produced unlicensed. Some AI tools sell images using unofficial Midjourney integrations, which is risky and against Midjourney's terms. We only use providers that offer commercial licenses for our users.

We are always wanting to offer the best possible AI images and if Midjourney offers an API in the future then we will be happy to do an integration.

Longer Answer

Midjourney is a fantastic tool for creating AI images. But unfortunately, at this time, Midjourney does not offer any official integration or API.

This means we cannot create Midjourney images for our users that come with a commercial license.

Using automation to create images with Midjourney is strictly against their Terms of Service:

You may not use automated tools to access, interact with, or generate Assets through the Services.

By violating their terms you don't actually get a commercial license to use the images:

Subject to the above license, You own all Assets You create with the Services, provided they were created in accordance with this Agreement.

There are some AI writing tools that use unofficial Midjourney integrations and sell those AI images to their users. We find this to be an incredibly sketchy business practice since these tools are violating Midjourney's terms, selling images that they don't own any license to, and putting their users at risk.

We are committed to only using AI image providers that grant us commercial licenses to the images that we can pass on to our users.
